Hobonichi Weeks Ruler | Tomitaro Makino
Hobonichi Spring is a series of spring calendars created not only for Japanese pupils and students who start their studies in April, but also for those of us who need a fresh start or a proverbial clean slate.
The week-sized Hobonichi Techo Spring ruler features illustrations created in the early 20th century by the renowned botanist Dr. Tomitaro Makino. These incredibly detailed drawings of habrach, thistle, chamomile, and marigold illustrate how each flower is attached to its stem. The body of the ruler is adorned with purple, echoing the color of the thistle's petals.
Tomitaro Makino was a pioneer of Japanese botany, who named and described over 2,500 plant species. His most important work is the Illustrated Natural History of Japanese Plants, published in 1900, in which he documented and illustrated 50,000 plant species. His incredibly detailed illustrations were created thanks to his keen observation, knowledge, and experience.
The Hobonichi Pencil Board is a ruler, pad, and bookmark in one, made of durable, synthetic paper with a matte finish.
With the Hobonichi Pencil Board, you can write in your favorite planner anywhere, even while standing, and mark where you left off. The ruler also has a scale, allowing you to use it as a ruler.
