ystudio Unryuhaku Limited Crafts Edition Ballpoint Pen
The Unryuhaku rollerball pen is the result of a collaboration between ystudio and the Japanese Rakugei workshop, which has specialized in the "flat foil" technique for three generations. Its current owner is Kohei Murata, who learned the technique from his father while still a student. Since then, he has won numerous awards for his work using this technique.
Flat foil was originally used to decorate traditional Japanese garments, such as kimonos. Murata is now expanding the scope of this technique into other crafts.
For ystudio, Murata uses a rare type of material called u nryūhaku (dragon cloud foil), which he applies to the pen's barrel with incredible precision by hand . During this process, the foil takes on a vulcanized silver hue.
The ystudio rollerball pen is made entirely of brass.
The ystudio rollerball pen is a fusion of Japanese classic aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship.
