Field notes – familiar, yet new

Field notes – znane, a jednak nowe

Field Notes notebooks have found their way to our Escrib shelves at the special request of one of our customers.

And it was on your advice that we decided to delve deeper into this brand. Field Notes notebooks are very well-known in the market, distinctive, unmistakable, and, as it turns out, their history is also quite interesting!

It all began in the United States, specifically on farms there, where over a hundred years ago the custom of handing out tiny, pocket-sized notebooks began. These notebooks, resembling information booklets, were a way to promote companies selling seeds or agricultural equipment. Inside, in addition to pages for notes, you could find things like unit conversions. It so happens that the brand's co-founder, Aaron Dramplin, is a true enthusiast and collector of these notebooks. When he comes across one, he'll do his best to add it to his already sizable collection. He himself admits that this is also how he saves the stories written in them from oblivion. This collection, with its multiple covers, inspired the creation of notebooks that fit perfectly in your pocket.

And so, every quarter we can enjoy limited-edition notebooks with surprising covers and paper. As for the paper itself, it was originally designed primarily for writing with pencil, as was typically done on farms (as you can imagine, for purely practical reasons, a fountain pen wasn't the first choice of American farmers). However, in our tests, this paper works quite well with pen and ink, even highlighters and brush pens. Of course, there are also editions designed exclusively for pens and pencils, such as the Field Notes Expedite – a notebook you can take anywhere because it can withstand literally anything!

Field Notes Expenditure notebooks were inspired by journeys to the farthest land, Antarctica. Hence the bright orange front cover and black back with a printed map of the continent, so you won't accidentally lose it. Inside, you'll find Yupo Synthetic Paper, which is resistant to water, tears, and mechanical damage. Speaking of durability, Field Notes Expenditure notebooks have passed 12 durability tests against various external factors, including bullet penetration!
