Esterbrook Custom nibs – a wide range of possibilities

Stalówki Esterbrook Custom – szeroki wachlarz możliwości

Esterbrook offers its users not only beautiful and solid fountain pens, but also a wide range of nibs tailored to the needs of the writer.

Since we assume you are familiar with the basic division of nib sizes, we will focus here on the Esterbrook Custom series, created in collaboration with world-renowned nib specialists.

The Custom series includes Journaler, Scribe, Techo, and Needlepoint nibs.

Journalist
The nib was created by the Custom Nib Studio in Los Angeles. Designed for everyday use, it produces a medium-thick line with a rounded stub. Designer Gena Salorina based the nib on the vintage Esterbrook 9314M. The nib is compatible with Slim, Standard, and Oversized Estie fountain pens. The Journaler works perfectly with inks that produce shading effects.

Scribe
This nib was created in New York and designed by Josh Lax. The designer was inspired by Middle Eastern scribes who hand-copied texts of the highest importance, making it particularly suitable for calligraphy enthusiasts. The Scribe nib produces two line widths – a thin vertical one and a thicker horizontal one. This design makes it suitable for all types of inks.

Needlepoint
Designed by Kirk Speer of Pen Realm, this nib is the perfect solution for anyone who loves super-fine nibs but finds EF too much. They love wet inks, but ink containing particles can clog the feed. Needlepoint is particularly popular with users of Hobonichi notebooks and calendars, and it also works well on papers not necessarily intended for fountain pens – the fine line prevents fraying and ink bleed-through.

Techo
Esterbrook's latest design is a nib crafted by CY of Tokyo Station Pens. The Techo is ideal for both writing and sketching. The grain is ground so that the thickness of the line drawn depends on the angle at which the pen is held—the greater the angle, the thinner the line. The Japanese word "techo" is engraved on the nib. The nib is suitable for wet inks without granules.

If you like any of the nibs above, you'll want to give them a try! You can find the entire range of Esterbrook nibs and pens in our store.
