TACCIA Ukiyo-e Ink | Kuniyoshi-akane
- Description
Akane — an intense, deep red drawing from the tradition of madder root dyeing — is one of eight colors in the TACCIA Ukiyo-e Ink | Utagawa Kuniyoshi collection, inspired by the ukiyo-e woodblock prints of the Japanese master of the late Edo period. The color captures the ardor and drama of Kuniyoshi's compositions: from fiery battle scenes to expressive depictions of yokai (Japanese mythical creatures, spirits, and demons) that made him one of the most recognizable artists of his era.
