Wancher Dream Echizen Urushi Fountain Pen | Temari

Wancher Dream Echizen Urushi Temari combines the deep, silky black of Japanese lacquer with a design inspired by traditional temari balls. Gold, orange, and subtly colored patterns stand out vividly against the glossy background, creating a pen that is elegant, symbolic, and deeply rooted in Japanese craftsmanship. One version is equipped with a Wancher 18K gold nib.

For centuries, temari has symbolized true friendship, loyalty, and bonds that endure over time. In the past, these balls were given to children at the New Year as a wish for prosperity and closeness. On the pen, the motif retains this symbolism, becoming a discreet sign of relationships, memories, and new beginnings.

Echizen Urushi

Echizen Urushi lacquer comes from the Echizen region in Fukui Prefecture. It is made from the sap of the urushi tree, a material that has been used in Japan for thousands of years. Applying many thin layers and drying each one can take several months. The result is a deep luster and a surface resistant to water, heat, and most acids.

Kindai Maki-e Technique

The ABS barrel is decorated using the Kindai Maki-e technique, a modern development of traditional Maki-e that involves applying a design to the surface of the pen. It allows for the rich colors and precise decorative details of the temari balls to be captured.
