Each color represents a different season:

Spring - Nioi Sumire, Miruai,Waka-Uguisu, Sakura-Mori, Yozakura.

Summer - Souten, Doyou, Fujisugata, Rikyucha, Yodaki.

Autumn - Yamadori, Okuyama, Kin-Mokusei, Chushu,Yonaga.

Winter - Shigure, Tokiwa Matsu, Irori, Yuki Akari, Shimoyo.

The cartridges are designed for Sailor fountain pens - they will not fit pens of other brands.
