The Moomins were created in 1945 by Tove Jansson – a Finnish writer, painter, and artist. This year, the world of these iconic stories comes alive again as a unique collection of Hobonichi Techo covers.

The design of this cover features scenes from the novel Moominpappa at Sea, where the Moomin family moves to a remote island. Seeking solace in their new life, Moominmamma paints a garden on the lighthouse wall – and it is she who is immortalized on the front of the cover, sleeping and embroidered with bright purple thread on pink-grey cotton. Above the illustration, a quote from Moominmamma is embroidered with dark pink thread. The embroidery on the back of the cover shows the entire family gathered together on the island that has become their new home.

Interior and details

• Interior: Finished in elegant, delicate light pink. The inner pockets are made of the same material as the outer side of the cover.
• Right pocket: Adorned with a print of Moominpappa and Moomintroll rowing a boat with all their might and pulling in a net. Hidden under the pocket is a quote from Moominpappa in English.
• Two ribbon bookmarks: Finished with white seashell and flower charms.

Functionality and details

• Material: 100% cotton – soft and lightweight.
• "Butterfly-Stopper" closure: Double pen loops – by passing the clip or body of the pen through both loops, you lock the cover to prevent accidental opening during transport. The loops can accommodate writing instruments up to 13.5 mm in diameter.
• Pocket system: 5 smaller pockets for cards and business cards, a long flat compartment for receipts and tickets, and a large external pocket on the back for handy documents.
