The Moomins were created in 1945 by Tove Jansson—a Finnish writer, painter, and artist. This year, the world of these stories has once again come alive as a Hobonichi Techo cover.

The cover design is based on the novel Moominpappa at Sea, in which the Moomin family moves to an island. Seeking solace in their new life, Moominmamma paints a garden on the lighthouse wall—and it is this scene that is captured on the cover: a sleeping Moominmamma, embroidered with navy thread on delicate cotton. Above the illustration, Moominmamma's quote is embroidered in pink thread: “We've time for that tomorrow.”

Interior and Details

• Interior: Lined with elegant, soft pink. Pockets made from the same fabric as the cover.
• Right Pocket: Adorned with a print of Moominpappa and Moomintroll in a boat—pulling a net and rowing with all their might. Upon opening the pocket, you'll find an English translation of Moominpappa's line from the novel.
• Two Ribbon Bookmarks: Finished with charms in the shape of a white seashell and a flower—allowing you to mark two key places in the calendar simultaneously.
• Brand Card: Features a lighthouse—one of the most important motifs in the story.

• “Butterfly-Stopper” Closure: Double pen loops—by threading a pen clip or body through both loops, you prevent the cover from accidentally opening during transport.
