BLACKWING 602 pencils
The latest edition of Blackwing pencils with pink erasers!
The history of the BLACKWING pencil begins in 1930, when it was introduced by Eberhard Faber. The Blackwing pencil quickly became a cult classic, thanks to the Grammy, Oscar, and Pulitzer Prize winners who used it.
When production ceased in 1990, something extraordinary happened that added another chapter to its history. The remnants that remained on the retail market fetched a staggering $40 each, earning it the title of the most expensive wooden pencil in the world.
High-quality graphite and a replaceable eraser – these are the characteristic features of the Blackwing, appreciated by many famous artists around the world.
The Blackwing was used by, among others, John Steinbeck, Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, and also Chuck Jones, who created Bugs Bunny and many other characters from the popular Looney Tunes cartoon using this extraordinary pencil.
For many creators, these are the best writing and drawing utensils in the world.
Today, Blackwing pencils are manufactured by Palomino, a company long known for producing the highest quality drawing and writing materials. At the express request of many artists and creators, they relaunched this extraordinary pencil in 2010. Today, it's available in a traditional version called the "602"—very popular with writers—and a softer lead version, introduced with draftsmen and sketchers in mind. Interchangeable eraser colors will delight both traditionalists who cherish the classic Blackwing look and those who appreciate innovation.
