“The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied, nor shall that right be abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex,” says the 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.
It went into effect on August 18, 1920, when the last state to ratify it, Tennessee. This gave women the right to vote throughout the United States.
The Blackwing vol. XIX pencil, with its suffragette-inspired colors, commemorates this event, which took place just 105 years ago! It is also a tribute to all those who fought for the right to vote, not only in the United States but around the world.

The pencil's barrel, topped with a classic silver ferrule, features 36 gold stars—the exact number representing the number of states that ratified the aforementioned 19th Amendment. Its number is referenced by the silver Roman numeral "XIX" located on the barrel just below the ferrule.
The hard graphite of Blackwing Vol. XIX is perfect for creating public outreach or writing letters to local officials. After all, we can't give up the rights we have!
